Works on A1 24 February to 9 March

Works on A1 24 February to 9 March

Highways England will be carrying out essential carriageway investigation works on the A1, in both directions, between Wothorpe and South Witham.

The purpose of the works is to gain vital technical information which will help to produce an accurate and efficient plan for resurfacing the road. By gathering this information, Highways can pull together a plan which helps to eliminate cracks, potholes and the deterioration of the road surface. By doing this work now, motorists will benefit from improved road safety and journey reliability in the future.

When will the work take place?

Work is due to start on Monday 24 February 2020 and is scheduled for completion by Monday 9 March. To minimise inconvenience and disruption to road users, we will work overnight from Monday to Friday between 8pm and 6am.

How will the work affect traffic?

To maintain a safe environment for the workforce and road users, Highways need to install lane closures while they work. They will make sure that at least one lane remains open in each direction at all times.

They will also need to close entry / exit slip roads, in phases. When entry / exit slip roads are closed, we will put in place fully signed diversion routes which have been agreed with the Local Authority. All diversion routes are available upon request.

All carriageways and slip roads will be fully open throughout the daytime.

Please note that all planned works may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
